Dusting Off the Cobwebs & Rust

Quarter Final Win at Home for GU15 Caps

Brads Notes - You girls never cease to amaze me!  With a huge 6 week layoff and with very limited practices and games during that layoff, the GU15 Caps were able to come to their quarter final game vs Langley FC and accomplish the following ...

- a team that has been through some tough times since Christmas break
- a team that has not really played together since February 21st (7 long weeks ago)
- a team that had many starters nursing injuries or illnesses
- within five minutes of play Andrew & I felt good because this long layoff did not seem to affect your focus on the field and the fire in your spirit
- in that first five minutes the Capitals mounted an impressive attack on the Langley FC goal and with some lovely heads up play on/off the ball by Elise & Vanessa ... they ring one off the post/corner
- Langley was able to tie up the game with a small brekadown in the middle of the field but they did not loose their composure or confidence and put pressure back on Langley
- the Capitals had about 7-8 very good chances within the 18 yard box vs Langley's 1 or 2
- a lovely goal by Kristen (with assists from Elise and Britany) and another goal by Kathy (assistd by Kristen) ... with many other near goals (Vanessa, Olivia K, etc.)
- our defensive 4-some although rusty, were able to get their shape back towrds the end of the game
- we also had to fight against some questionable officiating (clear offsides not called and a mysterious yellow  card call against Katie Hanson with her no where near player)

Girls ... your heart and love for each other is huge!!!
Let's focus this week and take it to a new level for each other next weekend.

“I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion.” Mia Hamm quotes

"When all is said and done, it's not the shots that won the championship that you remember, but the friendships you made along the way."  -Unknown

"When you are out there on the soccer field playing, nothing else matters at the time. It's like the whole world has disappeared, and you and your teammates are all that matters."  -Amber Massey
